2010 Corolla Concept

In what was thought to be an unprecedented move, Toyota and Subaru have teamed up to develop a new sports car inspired by the AE86 Toyota Corolla GT coupe that was popular in the 1980s. This new Toyota-Subaru sports car is set to be released in 2010. While the car doesn’t have an official name, is still in drawing board and is touted to be “top secret”, what has been confirmed is that the Toyota-Subaru sports car will come out in two variants (just like comic books and action figures nowadays): one coming from Toyota and one coming from Subaru.

But despite being developed separately by each company, both versions of the concept car will carry a Subaru engine. This marks the first time that a Toyota car will be powered by a Subaru engine. The concept car will come in two trims with a different set of engines. The standard trim will carry a 2.0-litre flat-four engine capable of producing 175 horsepower, while the turbocharged trim will be given a 2.5-litre engine.
